BBC presenter Sara Cox is preparing for one of Children in Need's longest challenges, aiming to raise funds for the annual charity event. She will start her journey in Northumberland, a region that recently gained global attention as the setting for the film 28 Years Later.
Sara, formerly a Radio 1 presenter and now hosting Radio 2 at Tea Time and the station's Book Club, will cover the equivalent distance of five marathons in five days. Her route will take her from Northumberland to Pudsey, near Leeds, where she will meet the famous Children in Need bear.
Her challenge kicks off in the picturesque Kielder Forest, well known this year for its role in the zombie thriller 28 Years Later, directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle, who filmed extensively in the North East.
"Sara will run, jog, and walk through the sweeping landscapes of northern England while supporting Children in Need."
Her journey highlights the stunning natural beauty and rugged terrain of northern England, blending physical endurance with a heartfelt charitable mission.
Sara Cox’s ambitious 135-mile challenge from Northumberland to Pudsey combines endurance and charity, spotlighting iconic locations to support Children in Need.
