Ex-BBC Radio 1 Presenter’s Children in Need Challenge Comes to Ripley

Sara Cox, former BBC Radio 1 breakfast show presenter and current BBC Radio 2 drivetime host, is undertaking a remarkable 135-mile walk and run across the North of England for Children in Need. Starting from Kielder Forest and heading to Pudsey in Leeds, her journey aims to raise funds for the annual charity appeal.

Stopover at Ripley Town Hall

Born in Lancashire, Cox will rest in Ripley as part of her Great Northern Marathon Challenge. She is expected to arrive at Ripley Town Hall on Thursday, November 13, between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Following a £400,000 community buyout earlier this year, the hall will open its bar to welcome her with hot drinks and refreshments.

Broadcasting Achievements and Charity Goal

Sara Cox has been a distinguished radio and TV broadcaster for nearly 30 years. Her challenge’s ultimate aim is to deliver the Children in Need mascot, Pudsey Bear, to the town of Pudsey.

“Sara Cox first rose to fame when she replaced Zoe Ball as presenter of the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show in December 1999. She quickly grew listening figures from 6.9 million to 7.8 million listeners, earning Radio 1 its largest ever breakfast audience.”
