Sara Cox's Children in Need Marathon Challenge

The Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox is undertaking a demanding 135-mile challenge in support of Children in Need this year. The Bolton-born presenter will embark on a five-day journey starting at Kielder Forest near the Scottish borders and aiming to finish in Pudsey, Leeds, on Friday.

Sara follows the example of her Radio 2 colleague Paddy McGuinness, who raised £10 million last year after completing an intense cycling challenge. Unlike Paddy, Sara will complete her challenge on foot.

The Route and Timeline

Sara's "Great Northern Marathon Challenge" will involve running, jogging, and walking through hills and moors across four counties. She plans to complete the journey in time for the Friday night Children in Need broadcast on BBC One.

During the entire route, Sara will carry Pudsey Bear, aiming to bring "Pudsey" to Pudsey itself in Leeds.

“We’re talking 135 miles of hills, moors and blisters – but I am ready for the challenge, and I will absolutely be giving it everything I’ve got!”

“When they picked me to get Pudsey to Pudsey, I was honoured and horrified in equal measure.”

Summary

Sara Cox is taking on a tough five-day, 135-mile trekking challenge carrying Pudsey Bear to raise funds and awareness for Children in Need, showing great determination and spirit.
