Canada’s Rachel Homan secured her record-extending 20th Grand Slam of Curling title by defeating Switzerland’s Silvana Tirinzoni 7-4 in the final of the KIOTI GSOC Tahoe on Sunday.
Representing Ottawa, Homan’s team, including third Tracy Fleury, second Emma Miskew, and lead Sarah Wilkes, completed the tournament undefeated with a 7-0 record. They earned a prize of $42,000.
"Yeah, it's an unbelievable feeling, especially winning a game that was a battle out there for both teams," Homan said. "It's just really fun to play such an amazing team, and being able to pull out the win is an awesome feeling."
The Swiss team started with the hammer, aiming to avoid a repeat of the previous month’s CO-OP Tour Challenge, where an early mistake resulted in Homan stealing four points in the first end.
"The hits keep coming for Rachel Homan and her Canadian club," the event commentary noted, highlighting the team’s consistent dominance.
Summary: Rachel Homan’s team delivered an impeccable performance to extend their Grand Slam winning streak, underlining their status as the top-ranked curling team globally.
