Dr. Purvis quickly establishes himself as an unqualified and overconfident figure, a man who not only digs his own grave but willingly steps into it. From the start, when he overrides the capable Dr. Charles Purvis, it’s clear this is someone bringing trouble. Arrogant, bossy, and oblivious to his failures, he’s the embodiment of misguided authority. His nearly barren chin stands out in a show where every type of facial hair seems to flourish — a small but telling symbol that he’s not the one to revive the fallen leader.
Still, credit goes to Željko Ivanek — Emmy winner for “Damages” and veteran with over a hundred screen credits — who delivers a skillful performance. He captures both the doctor’s commanding demeanor and his endless errors, making the bad doctor oddly compelling despite his flaws.
