Harvard women's soccer traveled to New York City on Saturday to face the Columbia Lions, suffering a narrow 2–1 defeat after a hard-fought 90-minute battle that ended the team’s postseason hopes.
With a final record of 5–6–3 overall and 3–3–1 in Ivy League play, Harvard came into the match determined to give its best effort on the field. Earlier in the season, the team struggled with shifting lineups, inconsistency, and injuries, prompting questions about its ability to contend in a competitive Ivy League race.
As the conference season progressed, Harvard found its rhythm and climbed toward the top of the Ivy standings, putting itself in position to compete for the championship. However, after a difficult senior night loss to the University of Pennsylvania the previous weekend, the Crimson arrived in New York needing at least one point to keep its title chances alive.
Similarly, Columbia entered the match after a loss to Princeton.
Harvard’s women’s soccer season concluded in New York with a 2–1 defeat to Columbia, closing a campaign marked by growth, resilience, and near-championship contention.
