Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams has released the 20th and final track from her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The song, titled "Showbiz", features intriguing lyrics reflecting tensions under the spotlight.
On November 7th, Williams officially unveiled "Showbiz," completing the album after a unique release strategy. Seventeen tracks were previously shared as singles on a free website, followed by a gradual move toward a complete project presentation.
“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”
Williams leaves the meaning of what might be "ending" deliberately ambiguous in this song.
Despite speculation that the album signals Paramore's breakup, Williams reassures fans the band is merely "on a break." Earlier in the album, the track “Good Ol’ Days” features Williams calling herself “Miss Paramore,” hinting that the band she formed at 15 may still have a future.
“I felt I had been blamed for all the shit” that caused the band's many hiatuses, Williams admitted recently.
The lyrics also reference her recent breakup with Paramore's guitarist.
Author's summary: Hayley Williams concludes her solo album with "Showbiz," blending cryptic reflections on fame and hints of Paramore's uncertain but ongoing story.
