A businessman from Osogbo, Osun State, Ayomide Adekunle, has accused officers of the Anti-Robbery Department under the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of illegally arresting and assaulting him with a machete and other weapons.
According to Adekunle, the officers inflicted multiple deep cuts on his back after detaining him without cause. He claimed the attack was led by Adedokun Yusuf, the deputy to the Officer-in-Charge of the department.
“They struck me about 15 times with a cutlass and beat me with sticks and batons while I was in custody,” Adekunle said.
He recounted that the violent incident occurred on October 31, 2025, around 5:30 p.m., at his business premises—his lounge in Osogbo. The situation began when a customer entered the lounge to speak with the manager. Adekunle explained that he was initially unaware of their conversation but later returned to see the same customer talking to two waitresses and another staff member.
Concerned by the exchange, he approached them to ask what was happening. A brief misunderstanding followed when he told the group to disperse and asked the customer to discuss any issues directly with the manager.
