After a longer wait than expected, kicker Harrison Mevis has returned to the NFL by signing with the Los Angeles Rams practice squad. This move adds depth to the Rams' specialist group, bringing in the former Birmingham Stallions player.

Known as “The Thiccer Kicker,” Mevis excelled in spring football before returning to the NFL. During the USFL season, he made 20 of 21 field goal attempts, helping the Stallions secure a 7-3 record and win the USFL Conference in the regular season.
Mevis was on fire this year – including a strong 5-6 performance from 50+ yards out. His only miss was from 63 yards.
After the UFL season, Mevis joined the New York Jets, competing against veteran kicker Nick Folk for the starting position. Mevis was narrowly edged out by Folk and placed on the Jets’ practice squad before being released a few weeks into the season.
