Manhunt for 'Dangerous' Sex Offender
Police are searching for Muhammad Zahid, a 59-year-old sex offender who fled during his trial.
Zahid attempted to rape an 11-year-old girl in Burnley in 2021, but was thwarted when the victim kicked him off her.
He was sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison, including 9 years and 6 months in custody and 1 year on extended licence, after being deemed a "dangerous offender" by the trial judge.
Despite the sentence, Zahid went on the run halfway through the trial and is now wanted on a Bench Warrant.
Zahid's actions forced his victim to give evidence during the trial.
A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend Zahid and bring him to justice.
