We now know when the trailer for Avengers 5 will be released! The wait is nearly over for the first look at Avengers: Doomsday. This announcement coincides with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's transition into Phase 6, which began this summer with The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Collider has confirmed that the Avengers: Doomsday trailer will premiere alongside Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19. Principal photography for this phase concluded on September 19, 2025. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and will feature a significant return of Robert Downey Jr.
Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Iron Man, with a twist—he will also portray Victor von Doom, known as Doom, in the Marvel Studios franchise. Additionally, he is scheduled to play Doom again in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, which is currently in pre-production.
During a surprise live-stream, Marvel Studios revealed the returning cast, uncovering several actors from the Fox-Marvel era. Notably, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are returning as Professor X and Magneto.
The reunion extends further with James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn reprising their roles as Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Mystique in the 2026 film.
The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday trailer drops in December, featuring the return of key actors from previous X-Men films and the debut of Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, promising an exciting phase for Marvel fans.
