Antonio Brown, former NFL wide receiver, was arrested on charges of attempted murder following a shooting at a celebrity boxing event in Miami. Authorities confirmed the arrest on Thursday.
Brown, 37, was detained by U.S. Marshals in Dubai and transported to Essex County, New Jersey. He is currently held there pending extradition to Miami. It remains unclear why he was brought to New Jersey first or the duration of his stay in Dubai, despite his recent social media activity from that location.
According to the arrest warrant, the May 16 shooting involved Brown allegedly seizing a handgun from security personnel after the boxing match and firing two shots at a man with whom he had previously engaged in a fistfight.
"Former NFL star Antonio Brown has been arrested on an attempted murder charge stemming from a shooting after a celebrity boxing event in Miami," said Miami police spokesman Mike Vega.
