Swiss startup FireDrone, a spin-off from Empa, secured €161,000 (CHF 150,000) from Venture Kick to advance its development of heat-resistant drones.
These drones are specially designed to operate safely in extreme heat, such as burning buildings and industrial furnaces, where conventional drones fail. FireDrone's autonomous technology endures temperatures around 200°C, enabling real-time detection of hazards in situations with toxic smoke, structural instability, and intense heat.
The startup initially focuses on industries such as cement, steel, aluminium, waste-to-energy, fertiliser, and glass production, as well as emergency response scenarios where heat and smoke prevent standard drone use.
FireDrone develops heat-resistant autonomous drones to withstand temperatures of around 200°C and provide real-time hazard detection in environments where standard systems are ineffective.
Author's summary: FireDrone’s heat-resistant drones promise to revolutionize safety and efficiency in hazardous, high-temperature environments for both industrial inspections and emergency response teams.
