Seven neighbours from a street in Brookmans Park will share a £1 million prize from the People's Postcode Lottery. The postcode AL9 6PT secured the weekly "Millionaire Street" prize.
Steven Bean, 52, one of the triple-ticket winners, promised to donate part of his £250,000 prize, shared with his wife Olesya, to support a charity for adults with learning difficulties.
“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned.”
The charity, Camphill Milton Keynes, recently suffered the theft and arson of its only minibus on October 9.
“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.”
Lucy Davies, head of development at Camphill, expressed the impact on residents:
“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting.”
Steven Bean's charitable commitment highlights the community spirit sparked by this significant lottery win.
