Reports indicate that Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has stepped away from the Toronto Marlies as he considers his future with the organization.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shared on Saturday Headlines and the Monday edition of 32 Thoughts the Podcast that Kampf is frustrated about not being in the NHL.
Friedman revealed that Kampf has taken time away from the club, with the situation possibly leading to contract termination discussions.
“I don’t know exactly what was said…but Kampf did leave players with the Marlies [Leafs’ AHL affiliate] with the impression that he was going to terminate his contract.”
Friedman also noted, “The Toronto Marlies are playing tonight in Chicago in the American Hockey League, and he’s not with them. I was told there’s a possibility he could play tomorrow, but I think that’s unlikely.”
David Kampf is currently not playing with the Maple Leafs due to roster and salary cap constraints, which has contributed to his frustration and decision to step away temporarily.
Summary: David Kampf is taking time off from the Marlies amid NHL roster challenges, with contract termination a possible outcome as he reevaluates his position within the Maple Leafs organization.
