Fiorentina has parted ways with head coach Stefano Pioli following one of the club's worst starts in Serie A history. The decision was announced on Monday, with Pioli relieved of his first-team duties.
Daniele Galloppa, the Under-20 coach, has been appointed as the interim manager. He will lead Fiorentina in their upcoming Conference League match against Mainz 05 on Thursday.
Pioli had signed a three-year contract with Fiorentina this summer, marking his second spell at the club since his earlier tenure from June 2017 to April 2019. Despite managing other Serie A teams such as Bologna, Chievo, Inter, Lazio, Milan, and Parma, this is the first time Pioli has gone winless in league competition with a club.
"Having also managed Bologna, Chievo, Inter, Lazio, Milan and Parma in Serie A, this is the first time Pioli has failed to win a single league match during his time in charge of a club."
Galloppa will now take charge of the Viola’s next matches, as Fiorentina currently lead their Conference League group after two games.
Fiorentina's early Serie A struggles led to Pioli's sacking, with the team seeking revival under interim coach Galloppa.
