Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett 'seriously' considering Senate run

Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett Considers Senate Bid

Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett of Texas is seriously weighing a run for the U.S. Senate, as she disclosed in an interview last week.

“I’m seriously weighing it to the extent that I’m about to spend a lot of money to get data,”

Crockett explained during a conversation with Dasha Burns on Politico’s “The Conversation.” She added that her decisions are guided by evidence and research.

“So I’m a data-driven person. I personally believe that Texas needs to do something different if they want different results. That’s just the bottom line.”

No Democrat has won a U.S. Senate race in Texas since 1988. The seat currently held by John Cornyn is up for election next year as he seeks a fifth term.

Crockett said she plans to make a late decision about entering the race, emphasizing that any Democratic nominee must also be competitive in the general election.

“I’mma be flat-out with you and tell you that I don’t think that there’s a Democrat that can take out Cornyn,”

she stated. She also suggested that the National Republican Senatorial Committee is investing heavily to support Cornyn’s campaign, though The National News Desk could not independently confirm this and the NRSC did not comment on its expenditures.
