The festive season begins tomorrow with the Christmas Pageant, drawing an estimated 300,000 spectators to the city streets. Motorists are advised to plan ahead due to multiple road closures across the CBD.
Several main roads will be closed from early morning until the afternoon. A detailed list of closures is available on the official Christmas Pageant website.
This year’s parade follows its traditional route, starting at South Terrace, moving along King William Street, passing the western side of Tarntanyangga, continuing through Reconciliation Plaza, Wakefield Street, Pulteney Street, North Terrace, and concluding at Beehive Corner.
“The Christmas Pageant brings huge numbers to the city each year so road closures will be in place tomorrow morning to keep everyone safe,” said RAA Senior Manager for Safety and Infrastructure, Charles Mountain.
He added that on-street parking will be extremely limited, comparing it to “a white Christmas,” and encouraged visitors to consider off-street parking and allow extra travel time.
The annual Christmas Pageant returns with its beloved parade route, prompting major CBD road closures and travel warnings for those driving into the city.
