A White House press conference on Thursday was briefly disrupted when a man fainted in the Oval Office. At that moment, President Donald Trump was announcing a new deal with pharmaceutical companies aimed at lowering the prices of obesity drugs.
The video showing the man collapsing quickly spread online. Independent journalist Eric Daugherty shared the footage, writing:
“A man just passed out during President Trump’s Oval Office announcement. Oz SPRUNG into action and assisted him. Pray for him.”
Social media users expressed concern for the man’s well-being, and the live feed was temporarily cut off. Initially, online posts identified the individual as Gordon Findlay, allegedly an executive with Novo Nordisk.
One post claimed:
“BREAKING: Novo Nordisk executive Gordon Findlay collapses during Trump's announcement in Oval Office, announcement suspended.”
However, Novo Nordisk issued a statement denying that Findlay or any other company executive was involved. The company told Newsweek:
“CEO Mike Doustdar and EVP, U.S. Operations, Dave Moore were the only two Novo Nordisk representatives in the Oval Office. We hope the gentleman who suffered a medical incident today is okay.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later confirmed the incident, explaining:
“During the Most Favored Nations Oval Office Announcement, a representative with one of the companies fainted.”
A man fainted in the Oval Office during President Trump’s announcement, prompting viral rumors about a Novo Nordisk executive, but the company confirmed none of its staff were involved.
