During a press conference in the Oval Office, a drug executive fainted while President Donald Trump announced a deal with drugmakers to lower drug prices. The event was temporarily halted as the individual, believed to be Gordon Findlay from Novo Nordisk, appeared to collapse.
On Thursday, President Trump and representatives from Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk discussed a deal to expand coverage and reduce prices for obesity medications, specifically Zepbound and Wegovy. During David Ricks, Eli Lilly's CEO, was speaking, he noticed Findlay wobble and asked:
“Are you okay? Gordon, are you okay?”
When Findlay collapsed, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, stepped in to assist. Findlay, identified as Novo Nordisk's global brand director, was helped as he fell to his knees and then fainted. The press was asked to leave the room, and health officials, including the Secretary of Health and Human Services, were present during the ordeal.
Approximately 30 minutes later, the press conference resumed, and President Trump provided an update on Findlay's condition, confirming his health status.
This event highlights the unpredictability in high-profile political and corporate gatherings, emphasizing the need for quick medical response and maintaining composure in crisis situations.
