‘Losing support’: Liberal Senator raises serious concerns with Sussan Ley’s leadership

Concerns Over Sussan Ley's Leadership in Liberal Party

Senior Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson has voiced serious doubts about Sussan Ley's leadership amid growing internal debate in the Coalition on the net zero policy.

Pressure has mounted on the Liberal Party to clarify its stance on net zero, especially after the Nationals abandoned the policy. The partyroom is set to hold a critical meeting next week, with a final Coalition decision expected on Sunday, November 16.

Senator Henderson's Critique of Party Direction

In an interview with Sky News Australia host Peter Stefanovic, Senator Henderson, who opposes the net zero policy, stated that Ley's support within the party is declining.

"I cannot support the way things are," Senator Henderson said. "I can't pretend things are good. We've had a dire Newspoll result, a primary vote of just 24 per cent. Things are not traveling well."

She emphasized the seriousness of the situation:

"I do have to say, really honestly, I do think Sussan is losing support, but I do believe in miracles, we can turn things around. I don't support things the way they are at the moment."

Upcoming Partyroom Showdown
