Bronwyn Bishop, a senior figure in the Liberal Party, warned that the Coalition faces ongoing internal conflict and leadership struggles unless Opposition Leader Sussan Ley completely abandons the net zero policy.
The Liberal Party is facing significant unrest after Senator Sarah Henderson voiced her doubts about Sussan Ley’s leadership, stating she "cannot support the way things are."
"I can't pretend things are good. We've had a dire Newspoll result, a primary vote of just 24 per cent. Things are not traveling well,"
Senator Henderson said.
Despite these doubts, Ley expressed pride in her team and did not directly address the criticism from the Victorian Liberal Senator.
Bronwyn Bishop emphasized the seriousness of the situation, saying it was “not looking good” for the Coalition and predicted continued disunity.
"The Liberal Party will carry on tearing itself apart until Sussan Ley can finally allow dignity to prevail by abandoning net zero,"
Bishop stated.
She also predicted that the internal conflict would persist for "quite some time."
Senator Henderson, while critical, still expressed cautious optimism about reversing the party’s fortunes.
"I do have to say, really honestly, I do think Sussan is losing support, but I do believe in miracles, we can turn things around."
