Kevin Durant expressed admiration for Jayson Tatum’s swift recovery from his Achilles injury following the Houston Rockets' decisive 128-101 victory over the Boston Celtics. After the game, Durant warmly embraced Tatum, highlighting the progress the young star has made.
At 37, Durant remains in top condition, having scored a game-high 26 points. He notably ruptured his Achilles six years ago in the 2019 NBA Finals but has since maintained his elite performance. Reflecting on his own comeback at the six-month phase, Durant remarked:
“I wouldn’t say I felt that confident to dunk the ball. I don’t remember if I was that far along in my journey, but medicine has advanced so much since I had Achilles.”
Durant praised Tatum’s rehab efforts, noting the absence of a limp and his overall athleticism despite the recent surgery:
“Jayson looks like he’s just killing the rehab and he looks great. For somebody who just had Achilles surgery in the playoffs, he looks amazing. Hopefully, he continues to progress and gets back on the court soon. The game misses him, the NBA misses him, just, you know, all-world talent, man, so looking forward to having him back on the floor.”
Tatum has openly set his sights on returning this season, aiming to come back within eleven months of suffering the injury last May.
Kevin Durant remains highly impressed by Jayson Tatum’s fast and effective rehab from his Achilles injury and looks forward to his return to the NBA floor.
