Second Alberta MLA Faces Recall Petition
A second member of the Alberta legislature is now subject to a citizen-driven recall petition. United Conservative Party MLA Angela Pitt, who has represented Airdrie-East since 2015, is the focus of this new campaign.

Chief electoral officer Gordon McClure informed a legislature committee on Monday that the recall effort against Angela Pitt has been officially approved. Collection of signatures for the petition will begin on Wednesday.
- The petitioner has until February to collect just under 15,000 signatures from residents of Airdrie-East.
- If the petition secures enough valid signatures, a recall vote must be held within four months.
- Should more than half of voters support removal, Pitt would lose her seat in the legislature.

"I don’t want to see Pitt replaced as the MLA for Airdrie-East by someone in the NDP. Rather, it’s because Pitt has become less responsive to community issues and concerns, and I don’t think people are being listened to."
In response, Pitt stated:
"I take my role seriously and recalls shouldn't be approved just because people disagree with government policy."
