Dighton-Rehoboth Wins Grant for Medical Assisting Program

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School (DRRHS) is expanding its STEM and healthcare education by launching a new Medical Assisting career pathway. This initiative is made possible by a $15,000 grant from a statewide STEM program.

Funding and Support

The grant is part of a larger $5.4 million investment by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Education aimed at broadening science, technology, engineering, and math opportunities across the state. The district’s grantwriter, Renee Moorby, secured the funding, as announced by the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District.

Program Goals

The Medical Assisting pathway is developed to meet the state’s Innovation Career Pathways standards and to prepare students for careers in the healthcare industry, which is experiencing growth.

District Vision

“Receiving this grant is another important accomplishment in the renaissance taking place in our district,” said Superintendent Bill Runey. “It empowers Dighton-Rehoboth to expand our healthcare and STEM offerings, ignite student engagement, and ensure that every learner—regardless of background—has the opportunity to explore meaningful, in-demand careers.”

The grant aligns with the district’s mission to “Empower, Ignite, and Shape the Future.”
